CHASSISD_TEMP_SENSOR_FAILURE
The temperature sensor for the indicated Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) either did not respond to a request from the chassis control process (chassisd) for a temperature reading or sent a value that is outside the normal operating range.
The temperature sensor for the indicated component (Field Replaceable Unit or FRU) either did not respond to a request from the chassis control process (chassisd) for a temperature reading or sent a value that is outside the normal operating range.
An example of the message reported is as follows:
CM ENV Monitor: i2c read for Temp sensor 3 write failed
The alarm should also appear in the output of the show chassis alarms:
user@router> show chassis alarms 1 alarms currently active Alarm time Class Description 2010-03-20 23:22:11 CST Major FPC 0 EX-PFE3 Temp Sensor Fail
The sensor on the Field Replaceable Unit (FRU), such as the Routing Engine, the flexible PIC concentrator, or Power Entry Module has failed to send a temperature reading or the reading sent is outside of the normal operating range.
This is not traffic affecting, but failure to address the issue may result in a failure of the FRU identified in the error log.
The temperature sensor has failed for the identified device and is either not sending a reading or sending a reading outside of the normal range. The output of the show chassis alarms will identify the specific FRU in which the censor has failed.
- Review the information from the show chassis alarms
- Review the information from the show log messages and show log chassisd
- Note any entries that may be associated with the error
