ACCT_MALLOC_FAILURE
The accounting statistics process could not allocate memory from the heap. The problem related to this syslog message is described in the following sections:
The ACCT_MALLOC_FAILURE message appears when there is an error allocating memory for the accounting statistics process.
When a ACCT_MALLOC_FAILURE event occurs, a message will be logged similar to the following:
1 | ACCT_MALLOC_FAILURE: Memory allocation failed while reallocating filter profile interface list |
This message is caused by a failure to allocate memory by the accounting statistics process. It may indicate faulty memory or it may indicate that the memory is in an error state which can be cleared.
Examine the following output to help determine the cause of this message:

Look for any related events that occurred at or just before the ACCT_MALLOC_FAILURE message.
Perform these steps:
- Restart the accounting statistics process. For more information on restarting a process, refer to Restart a Junos Software Process.
- If the issue remains unresolved, then during a maintenance window, as it will impact transit traffic, try rebooting the Routing Engine.
- If the messages continue, open a case with your technical support representative to investigate the issue further.
