The adaptive services process (spd), which provides the user interface for management and configuration of Adaptive Services and Multi Service Physical Interface Cards and also Multi Service Dense Port Concentrators (ASPICs, MSPICs and MSDPCs), could not create a context used for handling all asynchronous events (such as timers and message availability). This only applies to M, MX and T series routers.
The SPD_EVLIB_CREATE_FAILURE message is logged each time the adaptive services process failed to create a context for handling asynchronous events.
When a SPD_EVLIB_CREATE_FAILURE event occurs, a message similar to the following is reported:
spd: SPD_EVLIB_CREATE_FAILURE: evCreate failed with: <error-message>
The cause may be due to system memory being exhausted, or to an internal error.
Examine the following output to help determine the cause of this message:
show log messages show log spd
Look for any related events that occurred at or just before the SPD_EVLIB_CREATE_FAILURE message.
Perform these steps:
- During a maintenance window, as it will impact transit traffic, try restarting the spd process.
