This message is seen when the scan operation on an SNMP engine data file fails.
The LIBJNX_SNMP_ENGINE_SCAN_FAILURE message is logged each time the scan operation on the indicated SNMP engine data file fails.
The message will be similar to this:
LIBJNX_SNMP_ENGINE_SCAN_FAILURE: snmp_engine_read: fscanf : /var/db/snmp_engine.db scanning: snmp_boots Error: Unknown error: 0
An internal software failure occurred. A Junos OS process could not perform the scan operation on the indicated SNMP engine data file.
Perform these steps to determine the cause and resolve the problem (if any):
1. Collect the show command output to help determine the cause of this message.
Capture the output to a file (in case you have to open a technical support case). To do this, configure each SSH client/terminal emulator to log your session.
request support information | no-more show log messages | no-more show log snmpd | no-more
2. Analyze the show command output. Look for any related events that occurred at or just before the LIBJNX_SNMP_ENGINE_SCAN_FAILURE message.
3. Check your version of Junos OS. There was a rare issue where this error was sometimes seen after a commit operation. This has been fixed in versions 9.6R2, 9.4R4, 9.5R3, 10.1R1, 10.0R1, 9.6R1, 9.3R5, and 11.4R7. If you are already running a version of Junos later than the fixed version, or if the error is occurring at times other than directly after a commit operation, then continue with the next step.
