The chassis process (chassisd), which controls hardware components on the routing platform, detected the presence of a Switch Interface Board (SIB) in an invalid slot. The SIB remains offline.
The problem related to this syslog message is described in the following sections:
The CHASSISD_SIB_INVALID_SLOT message is logged each time the chassis process detects a SIB board in an invalid slot.
When a CHASSISD_SIB_INVALID_SLOT event occurs, a message similar to the following is reported:
chassisd: CHASSISD_SIB_INVALID_SLOT: <fru-name> in invalid slot <slot>
The cause of this message is the placement of a SIB component into a chassis slot not valid for that SIB type.
Examine the following output to help determine the cause of this message:
show chassis fabric sibs show chassis fabric summary show log messages
Look for any related events that occurred at or just before the CHASSISD_SIB_INVALID_SLOT message.
Perform these steps:
- The SIB component referred to should be removed from its current slot and either moved to the correct chassis slot, or replaced with the correct type of SIB.
