The generic authentication service process (authd) could not allocate an authentication object for the indicated reason. The authentication service process is a security service that verifies an identity that is claimed by or for a system entity.
The problem related to this syslog message is described in the following sections:
The AUTHD_AUTH_CREATE_FAILED message is logged each time the authentication service process fails to create an authentication object.
When an AUTHD_AUTH_CREATE_FAILED event occurs, a message similar to the following is reported:
authd: AUTHD_AUTH_CREATE_FAILED: Unable to allocate authentication handle: <error-message>
The cause may be due to a software error in the authentication service process daemon, corruption of one of its internal tables, or a memory error in the routing engine.
Examine the following output to help determine the cause of this message:
show log authd_sdb.log show log messages
Look for any related events that occurred at or just before the AUTHD_AUTH_CREATE_FAILED message.
Perform these steps:
- Restart the authd daemon. This will not affect transit traffic. For more information on restarting a process, refer to Restart a Junos Software Process.
- If the authentication object allocation failure messages continue, open a case with your technical support representative to investigate the issue further.
