‘Update error encountered: Update settings failed’ error message being generated on a client’s handset.
- This looks like a issue, where the certificate CN does not match the hostname of the MSG Server. This would be the certificate installed in Nginx or whatever front end server is being utilized.
- The standard front end Nginx certificate has just the server public key and not the certificate bundle; which includes intermediate-CA certificate, cross-intermediate-CA, and root-CA public key cert append.
Combine the server certificate with the certificate bundle creating a chain certificate on Nginx; it is a clean look up. The certificate bundle we have on Nginx, that references our wildcard certificate, has the public key of the server for *.pslab.juniper.net; which is the public key of the intermediate-CA, cross-intermediate-CA, and the root-CA.
