Step-by-step configuration of a basic remove port mirroring process.
User requested to have a basic port mirroring for a remote Monitoring configuration on two Juniper Switch. There is not any other port mirroring instance configure on the devices so the port mirroring needs to be setup from the scratch on the source and destination switch .
On the source switch:
- Configure a VLAN tag ID for the remote-monitor VLAN
- Configure the interface on the network port conected to the destination switch for trunk mode and associate it with the remote-monitor VLAN
- Configure the ge-x/x/x interface for the egress-only traffic so that traffic can only egress from the interface
- Configure the employee-monitor analyzer
On the destination switch :
- Configure the VLAN tag ID for the remote-monitor VLAN
- Configure the interface on the destination switch for trunk mode and associate it with the remote-monitor VLAN
- Configure the interface connected to the destination switch for the trunk mode and associate it with the remote-monitor VLAN
